Rural India lacks basic infrastructure like properly built roads, electricity, water reservoirs and community spaces. Combined with the harsh terrain, this makes daily life extremely tough. Infrastructure development has emerged as one of the priority areas of intervention in many communities we work in. ACF supports building of infrastructure for villages like roads, street lights, school building among others in consultation with the communities.
To support the farming community, ACF regularly undertakes projects for water resource management through construction of khadins, farming bunds, storage structures like water tanks to ensure safe drinking water. These projects are implemented with support from community based
organisations, with planning, monitoring and maintenance of infrastructure being taken care by villagers themselves. By ensuring people's participation, ACF enables its sustainability long after project implementation.
